OREANDA-NEWS  The protests of Polish officials over the alleged removal of crosses at a military cemetery in the Tver region look cynical against the background of the destruction of monuments in Poland. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing, the text of the speech was published on the ministry's website.

The diplomat noted that a corresponding note had been received from the Polish Foreign Ministry. Zakharov was accused by Polish officials of cynicism and hypocrisy, recalling what is happening to Russian monuments in Poland itself.

"After all, they have been consistently, systematically destroying monuments for many years, they are doing it with malicious intent, not by chance, not by individual vandals, but even if extremist vandals are doing this, they are doing it with the explicit, somewhere unspoken permission of the authorities," Zakharova stressed.

Earlier, a leading RISI expert, Oleg Nemensky, said that the new head of Poland could sever relations with Russia. "For Russia, both candidates are bad, it cannot be ruled out that they will lead to the severance of diplomatic relations. Both consider Moscow to be an enemy that will attack Poland immediately after dealing with Ukraine," he said.
