OREANDA-NEWS  The number of DDoS attacks on banks and payment systems in Russia increased sharply in March, according to a study by the cybersecurity company StormWall.

As noted, in March 2023, there was a wave of DDoS attacks on banks and payment systems. The first attacks on financial organizations were recorded by the company's specialists on March 7, since then the number and power of such cyber incidents has only increased. Experts specify that from March 7 to March 20, attacks on financial organizations increased by 126% compared to the same period last year and by 63% compared to the same period in February this year. According to preliminary information from experts, the attacks came from politically motivated hackers (hacktivists), who in March, as a result of a long lull, began attacking Russian banks and payment systems with renewed vigor.

The article says that the maximum duration of the attacks reached 48 hours. According to experts, the hacktivists launched attacks on their own, using ready-made botnets and computers of their supporters, sending requests using public proxy servers.
