OREANDA-NEWS. The Chinese government has decided to revoke the accreditation of three correspondents of the American edition of the Wall Street Journal in Beijing. According to the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Geng Shuang, this measure followed after the publication under the heading "China is a real Asian patient" on measures to combat the outbreak caused by coronavirus pneumonia.

According to the diplomat, the PRC authorities demanded that the editors of the Wall Street Journal publicly apologize and punish the perpetrators, but this demand was not satisfied. "China has decided from this day to revoke the accreditation of the three Wall Street Journal correspondents in Beijing", he said.

China also expressed dissatisfaction and strong protest of the United States over the introduction of stricter rules on American territory in relation to the five state-owned media in the PRC. According to an official spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, China reserves the right to take retaliatory measures. "We express strong dissatisfaction and strong protest against the actions of the United States", the diplomat said.

According to him, "for a long time, the Chinese media departments in the United States have adhered to the principles of objectivity, impartiality, truthfulness and accuracy in news coverage".
