OREANDA-NEWS The American company Niantic, the developer of Pokémon GO and Ingress games, has suspended access to its products in Russia and Belarus, according to a message on the company's Twitter.

"We support the international community in the hope of peace <...> in Ukraine. Niantic games are no longer available for download in Russia and Belarus, and the gameplay there will also be suspended in the near future," Niantic said in a statement.

The company was founded in 2010. She develops games with elements of augmented reality, the most famous product is Pokémon Go. They also created the games Ingress, Picmin Bloom, a platform for developers of augmented reality Lightship. Part of the current Niantic team in the early 2000s was developing a Keyhole video game with interactive 3D maps of the planet, which was later acquired by Google and renamed Google Earth.

Other game and video game console development companies have also announced the suspension of their activities in Russia. Japanese Nintendo has suspended deliveries of Nintendo Switch game consoles and software to Russia, Sony Interactive Entertainment has stopped selling its PlayStation consoles, as well as games — the PS Plus service and the PS Store are closed to users.

American video game developers Activision Blizzard (owns the rights to Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, World of Warcraft), Electronic Arts (developer of FIFA and Sims) and Polish studio CD Projekt RED (developer of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher) also announced a temporary suspension of sales of their games in the country.
