OREANDA-NEWS. The Spanish film director, screenwriter and producer Jose Luis Cuerda died at the 73rd year of life in Madrid. This was reported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain.

Jose Luis Cuerda filmed in 1988 the movie The Enchanted Forest which received the Goya Award as the best film. In addition, Cuerda was twice awarded the Goya Award for best adapted scripts for his films: in 1999 for Butterflie’s Tongue and in 2008 for The Blind Sunflowers. In 1988, he directed the cult film To See the Dawn Is Enough.

Cuerda also was a producer of films by Alejandro Amenabar, including Thesis, Open Your Eyes, and The Others.
