OREANDA-NEWS. The Russians named the main words of the year, in particular, "coronavirus" and "QR codes", said the general director of VTsIOM Valery Fedorov.

"VTsIOM asked Russians to choose the three main words of 2021. They were: 'coronavirus', which was chosen by 38% of Russians, price increases - 34% and QR codes - 28%," Fedorov said, presenting the poll at the Rossiya Segodnya MIA. 

Also, according to him, the Russians named among the words of the year "vaccine", "reduced income", "masks" and "distance learning."

The initiative all-Russian poll "VTsIOM-Sputnik" was carried out in December 2021. The survey involved Russians aged 18 and over. The survey method is a telephone interview based on a stratified two-base random sample of landline and mobile numbers of 1600 respondents. The sample was built on the basis of a complete list of telephone numbers used in the territory of the Russian Federation. The data are weighted by the likelihood of selection and by socio-demographic parameters. For this sample, the maximum error size with a 95% probability does not exceed 2.5%.
