OREANDA-NEWS  Lithuanians should not "enjoy Russian culture" while the conflict is raging in Ukraine. This was stated by the Minister of Culture of Lithuania Simonas Kairis. The minister repeated the ideas of his Ukrainian colleague Alexander Tkachenko. So, Tkachenko earlier called on the West to boycott Russian culture altogether.

Kairis accused Moscow of using works of art as a "weapon". Russia sends pop culture artists to Lithuania for dates that are extremely "important for the Lithuanian state." The politician stressed that he stands for "psychological quarantine" in relation to the cultural activities of the Russian Federation.

Kairis noted that it is important to warn both individuals and figures, as well as public and private institutions. He added that Lithuania "should abandon works that previously seemed acceptable to us." The politician thanked those Lithuanian cultural figures who have already "consciously responded" to the recommendations of his ministry.

Some Lithuanian cultural figures have already noted the agreement of such a defiant position towards Russian culture.
