OREANDA-NEWS  Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre will visit India for the first time. With the support of the BEAC, which acts as the general partner of the tour, the renowned band will give three performances of Anna Karenina in Mumbai on December 8, 9 and 10. The production in India's largest city will take place on the stage of the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, a key venue of the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA). 3,000 tickets were sold out in just a few days.

"Sber has been working in India for 15 years, and we see our mission as strengthening cultural ties between the two countries. Such a dialogue helps us to understand each other better. We are glad that our support will help the people of India appreciate the masterpiece of Russian ballet art. I would like to emphasize that this is a systematic work for the Savings Bank. In October, at the invitation of the bank, Indian artist Varun Desai visited Russia, who presented the multimedia installation "It's Time" about the connection between the two countries. We strive to unite residents of Russia and India and build not only business but also cultural bridges," said Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank.

The ballet "Anna Karenina" to the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky has been on stage since 2005. Over the past 20 years, the production has gathered full houses in Russia, the USA, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, France, China and other countries. In this work, Boris Eifman focused on the love triangle "Anna — Vronsky — Karenin" and the inner world of Anna, in which, according to the choreographer, two people live: a well—known socialite and a woman immersed in the world of passions. The psychological ballet has received critical acclaim around the world and has been awarded prestigious theater awards.

"In today's difficult conditions, the issue of forming a unified, worldwide cultural environment is becoming very important. I strive to create it in ballet art. Dance is a universal language. It brings together representatives of different religions and political views," said Boris Eifman, Artistic Director of the Boris Eifman Ballet Theater and President of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy.

This year, the theater's artists performed on the stages of Uzbekistan, Turkey, Belarus, and Israel, and in early November, the troupe launched a large-scale Asian tour. After India, the troupe will travel to Africa, where they will perform the comedy ballet The Pygmalion Effect.
