OREANDA-NEWS.  The International Iron and Steel Institute published the data according to which the world production of crude steel in January 2007 has made 107 million 886 thousand tons that exceeded parameters of January 2006 at the rate of 95 million 37 thousand tons by 13,5 %.

Asia produced 58 million 446 thousand tons of steel (20,1 %). China produced 38 million 398 thousand tons (27,3 %). Production in Japan made 10 million 68 thousand tons (6,5 %).

In 27 EU countries in January 2007 production totalled 18 million 66 thousand tons of crude steel (9,7 %).

The CIS countries manufactured 10 million 671 thousand tons of steel (11 %).

Northern America’s output made 10 million 875 thousand tons of steel (-0,5 %). In the USA production made 8 million 308 thousand tons (2,7 %).

In South America output totaled 3 million 817 thousand tons (2,2 %).

In Africa production made 1 million 622 thousand tons of steel (7,5 %).

The Near East made 1 million 311 thousand tons (3,2 %).
