OREANDA-NEWS   Early versions of Sony PlayStation 5 consoles may have overheating problems due to degradation of some console parts. This is reported by the Notebookcheck publication.

The journalists referred to the Modyfikator89 game console repairman, who in X spoke about the PS5, which began to overheat heavily during operation. It turned out that the problem arose due to the degradation of liquid metal, which is supposed to transfer heat from the processor to the radiator.

In PlayStation 5, the processor is not coated with ordinary thermal paste, but with a liquid metal thermal interface that has high thermal conductivity. However, over time, it may dry out and stop working effectively. In this case, the console will start to overheat. According to the journalists, they found that many users of social networks and owners of CFI-1116 revision consoles complain about this serious flaw.

Experts emphasized that over time, the thermal interface can oxidize and be unevenly distributed over the console parts. The journalists noted that the problem is not widespread, but recommended that PS5 owners react if their consoles become hot and noisy during operation.

In early August, it became clear that Sony had begun warning PS5 buyers about disc abandonment starting in 2028. A similar sticker appeared on boxes with new console models.
