OREANDA-NEWS Apple has planned to release a home robot companion based on artificial intelligence (AI). This is reported by Bloomberg.
As it became known to journalists, the device will receive a robotic arm and a 7-inch display with a camera attached to it. The device will rotate 360 degrees in order to always turn "face" the user. Apple has planned to introduce its first robot in 2027.
Inside the company, the robot was named the "Pixar lamp" because of its similarity to the logo of the famous studio. According to sources, the device will work with AI, have a special version of the Siri voice assistant and take part in a conversation with the user. The robot will be able to search for information on the Internet, give hints, schedule events in the calendar and control smart home devices. You can also use it to make FaceTime calls.
The new device is at the prototype stage. Bloomberg believes that Apple may postpone the release of the device due to problems. So, the corporation has not yet released the long-promised version of Siri with support for the Apple Intelligence neural network. At the same time, the IT giant plans to release another robot that will receive wheels and a mechanical arm.
In February, Apple engineers developed a robot lamp to demonstrate smart features. The machine can be controlled by gestures, so the robot can direct the light source to a point that the user specifies.
