OREANDA-NEWS Nvidia, a graphics processor developer, plans to invest up to $100 billion in the company as part of a partnership with OpenAI, according to an OpenAI press release.

"Nvidia and OpenAI today announced the signing of a letter of intent regarding a historic strategic partnership that will deploy at least 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems for an artificial intelligence infrastructure designed to create superintelligence. To support its creation... Nvidia intends to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI," the statement said.

It is noted that the first phase of the project should be launched in the second half of 2026 with the launch of the Nvidia Vera Rubin server.

OpenAI will work with Nvidia as the preferred strategic partner in computing and networking to implement its plans to expand production related to artificial intelligence.

The companies hope to finalize the details of the new stage of the strategic partnership in the coming weeks, the release adds.

The ChatGPT chatbot gained popularity after launching in late November 2022, gaining its first million users in less than a week. One of the co-founders of OpenAI in 2015 was American billionaire Elon Musk, who later severed ties with the startup.

Nvidia, a graphics processor manufacturer, was founded in 1999. The company is also engaged in developments in the field of artificial intelligence. The company is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
