OREANDA-NEWS. The Glavkosmos company (part of Roscosmos) and the Center for Manned Space Flight of the Indian Space Research Organization have signed a contract to support the selection, medical examination and space training of Indian astronauts.  This is stated in the press service of the state corporation, posted on its website on Monday.

India has its own space program, under which the Gaganian project will be implemented.  It involves the flight of an Indian crew of two men and one woman, on an Indian spacecraft at the end of 2021.  The flight will be dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the country's independence.

The countries concluded the treaty on June 27th.  First Deputy General Director of Glavkosmos Natalia Lokteva and the head of the ISRO Manned Space Flight Center Dr. Unnikrishnan Nair signed the signatures under it.

Last December, in 2018, the government approved a budget for the space program of almost $ 1.43 billion.
