OREANDA-NEWS. Analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" conducted a study of the market of new cars in Russia, which covers the premium segment. According to the study, car sales of premium segment at the end of April of 2016 were 12.4 thousand units, by showing a decline of 2.8% in relation to the result of the previous year.

The market leader in this segment is still German Mercedes-Benz, the share of which was exactly a quarter of the total sales volume of premium cars. In quantitative terms, it corresponds to 3101 cars – less by 20.5% than a year before. Second place went to the Japanese Lexus, the products of which in April were sold in amount of 2322 units, by showing an increase of 5.5%. It is followed by two more products from Germany, which showed comparable results - BMW (2231 units; + 15.9%) and Audi (2119 units; + 0.1%). The top-five of leaders of premium segment is closed by English Land Rover (852 units; -3.8%).

We also note that the share of sales of premium vehicles was 11% of the total market volume of cars in Russia.
