OREANDA-NEWS. On April 12, 2007 the Conference "Legal Business in Russia" was held. Within the frameworks of the Conference the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Mr. Igor Artemiev was awarded with the special prize of the "Mergers and Acquisitions" magazine "For the contribution to the development of the civilized market of merges and acquisitions", reported the press-centre of  FAS Russia.


Handing over the prize to the Head of the FAS Russia, the Editor-in-Chief of the "Merges and Acquisitions" magazine Mr. Anton Smirnov noted that under the common opinion of legal community the Russian Antimonopoly Authority has made a lot for the recent years for the market of merges and acquisitions being civilized and having precise rules of the game.

"It is especially pleasant for me to receive this award from the "Merges and Acquisitions" magazine - unique specialized editions in this complicated sphere", - emphasized Mr. Artemiev. "It is very high independent assessment of my activity and the activity of my colleagues". According to the Head of the FAS Russia, the legal business became an independent direction of the Russian business with its own opportunities and prospects. At that, the further strengthening of legal business and also the further disclosure of economic potential of Russia depend on directions of the legal market services development and the role of lawyers in it.


Mr. Artemiev stressed that started in the last year and coming to the end now the process of the adoption of amendments into the Code on Administrative Violation (introduction of "turnover penalties") as well as the updating of the antimonopoly legislation gives new stimulus for the development of the segment of the market of legal services that is oriented on the competition Law. At that, the FAS Russia is ready to cooperate both with corporate lawyers and independent legal companies at formation of new law enforcement practice.
