OREANDA-NEWS. On July 20, 2007 Aigars Kalvitis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, held a meeting with the Co-Chairmen of the Latvia-Russia Business Council: Petr Aven representing Russia and Vasily Melnik representing Latvia who were also actively engaged in the meeting of the Latvian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission, reported the Official website www.mk.gov.lv.

The Prime Minister stressed that economic cooperation of Latvia and Russia possesses a strong potential and that the Latvia-Russia Business Council could be used as an instrument for negotiation with governments of both countries and to draw attention to issues related to better business cooperation.

Aigars Kalvitis supported the idea that the next meeting of the Latvia-Russia Business Council could be organised in September this year, in Riga; this event would show readiness of businesses in Latvia and Russia to promote pragmatic mutual relations.

 The Prime Minister wished both Co-Chairmen active cooperation according to bilateral interests and successful further implementation of this project.
