OREANDA-NEWS. In the view of experts of Veles Capital, an investment company, future success prospects of AvtoVAZ's plans to organize a car assembly line in Shimanovsk of the Amur region are doubtful. Car market of Far East of Russia is mostly dominated by Japanese cars, whereas they are considerably cheap. While price is slightly above Russian cars, they are without a doubt of better quality. Ladas are unlikely to be popular among people of Russia’s Far East. In order to implement this project successfully, AvtoVAZ will have to get support at the government level, the experts state. This may be provided by banning importation and registration of right hand drive cars in Russia or some other measures limiting turnover of cheap Japanese vehicles, which would “forcefully” make consumer shift for Russian cars, the experts conclude.

As reported, AvtoVAZ Board of Directors Chairman C. Chemezov disclosed late July that AvtoVAZ intended building a car assembly plant in the Amur Region with the capacity of 1000 cars per year.
