OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2007. The year of the Russian language Uchitelskaya Gazeta and Russian Post within the framework of the World Post Day and International Letter Week celebration declared the finalists of the all-Russian competition The Best Letter-Writing Lesson. The project was supported by the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the RF, Russian Education Academy, Committee on Education and Science of State Duma of the RF and Education Department of Moscow.

Competition’s five-year experience calls for attracting children’s attention to epistolary genre. It teaches them to write letters, share not only news, but their thoughts and feelings with their relatives who live far from them. In 2003-2007 the competition was attended by over 1.5 million children. Hundreds of talented teachers, librarians, postal employees and regional museums have arranged it.

This year the competition saw 5, 554 schools and 15, 365 classes. The general number of competition works participated in The Best Letter-Writing Lesson amounted to 262, 266 units written in schools, colleges, high schools, professional instutions, educational institutions, universities and 1, 407 methodical plans.

If we compare letters written by children and grown-ups the first mentioned win as ones are always sincere and pure, as noted Chairman of All-Russian Trade Union of Postal Employees A. Nazeikin at the award ceremony. The Director of Russian Post affiliated branch in Moscow S. Zemlyanov noted that the competition showed a great number of smart, clever and ambitious children in Russia.

The final of the competition gathered over 700 children studying in Moscow and Moscow region, Tver, Yaroslavl, Kaluga, Tula and Ryazan, who passed improvised postal tract and visited the stations Good news, Murzilka meets friends, Postal and other ones. The holiday prepared different surprises and competitions for them.

The holiday, bright and warm atmosphere celebrated the children in the person of E. Fedorov, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the RF, I. Melnichenko, Head of Youth Department of Federal Agency for Education, A. Kuzmin, FSUE Russian Post Deputy Director General, V. Nekrasov, CJSC Publishing House Uchitelskaya Gazeta Director General, S. Perevezentsev, Co-Chairman of Union of Writers of Russia, composer G. Gladkov, T. Androsenko, Chief Editor of Murzilka magazine and many other.

The best teacher of Russia in 2007 A. Mekhed has come to congratulate the best teachers.

Moreover the ceremony of stamp cancelling was held within the framework of the holiday. The winner of all-Russian competition I’m drawing an alphabet 10-years Bogdan Kalmikov from Tambov drew the design to it. O. Serezhina, Development Director of publishing-trade center Marka and he issued the stamp and let customers use it as a postage prepayment impression.

Upon completion of the event FSUE Russian Post Deputy Director General А.Kuzmin said: “As for today we would like to give excellent marks to young participants. Many days later many of you will become outstanding persons and it will really become true as even nowadays you have shown your active life style and the letter you’ve written are the part of history. Write letters and be creative! Dear teachers, we would like to give you excellent mark for your difficult and honorable profession”.

E. Fedorov, Deputy Director of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of the RF said he wished this competition new jubileums and that he is sure that each year will bring more and more participants and nominations in this competition”.
