OREANDA-NEWS. On November 13, 2007 the visitors showed keen interest in the stands of Volgodonsk Nuclear Power Plant. The stands presented the principles of operation of a nuclear power plant and the role of nuclear energy in the development of energy saving technologies in the fuel and energy complex of Russia, reported the press-centre of Volgodonsk NPP.

Now that the prices of gas and oil are growing, the economy can no longer rely on them. Besides, the gas and oil reserves are not endless and their export is extremely important for Russia’s budget. So, today, the only alternative to oil and gas is nuclear energy. 1GW of electricity can save 3bln c m of gas a year.

Volgodonsk NPP has been granted a certificate for active participation in the exhibition.

The effective use of energy, the use of renewable and ecologically friendly types of energy – this is one of the key concerns of not only politicians and ecologists but also managers of manufacturing and construction companies — as rational use of resources is a prerequisite of efficiency and profitability.

The 3rd South-Russian Forum “Energy Efficient Economy” discussed the problem of progressive use of all types of energy.

The exhibition “Fuel and Energy Resources of Southern Russia” presented the technologies, materials and equipment for production and consumption of electricity, oil and gas, particularly, equipment allowing to substantially enhance the efficiency of energy supply. Albatros and Vega Instruments (Moscow), Volgograd Oxygen Plant and many other companies from St.Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Volgograd, Vologda, Yaroslavl, Tomsk, Krasnodar region took part in the exhibition.

The visitors showed special interest in the stands of the companies offering modern measuring systems such as Vzlyot (St.Petersburg), Intelpribor (Moscow), Manometr-Karkhiv (Ukraine). Correct calculation of energy consumption helps to more effectively use energy and to prevent accidents.

The “Energy Efficient Economy” forum discussed ways to improve investment activities in the field of mining, the effects of tariff policy on the economy of regions, ecological problems like desertisation and land degradation and the present ecological situation in the Southern Federal District.

During a conference “Problems and Key Factors of Development of Fuel and Energy Complex of Southern Russia,” representatives of ministries and universities discussed the state and development prospects of the oil and gas complex of Russia and neighboring states and the latest projects for developing energy saving technologies and alternative energy sources.

The conferees worked out a strategy for improving the efficiency of the fuel and energy complex of Southern Russia.
