OREANDA-NEWS. November 14, 2007. SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev had a meeting with the delegation led by Mohammed Omar Al-Barrani, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and head of Azerbaijan-Libya Intergovernmental Commission from Libyan side. Having thanked the President of SOCAR for reception, the deputy minister noted that he already had several meetings at several state organs and companies. The deputy minister conveyed his positive impressions about those meetings.

The guest emphasized the key role of oil and gas industry in recent socio-economic achievements of Azerbaijan. Al-Barrani spoke about active participation of Azerbaijani experts in the development of Libyan oil industry in the past. He also underlined that some prominent local oil workers of Libya once obtained their education in Azerbaijan, and both countries would still benefit from interchange of experience.

R. Abdullayev noted that Azerbaijan is historically recognized as “an oil academy”, and overall economy, including oil industry of the country stepped forward to the stage of development since the implementation of new oil strategy established by national leader Heydar Aliyev. He spoke about the successful implementation of global energy projects and the advantages of the works carried out with international companies within the framework of those projects. Also, R. Abdullayev stated that SOCAR developed the infrastructure complying with modern requirements, enormous technical and technological potential, and the company employs many experienced professionals. He mentioned international projects of SOCAR and successes of Azerbaijani oil workers abroad. R. Abdullayev stated that SOCAR can provide any assistance in needy fields of Libyan oil industry. Moreover, there is a possibility of future cooperation between SOCAR and Libya. During the meeting the parties exchanged views about the interesting issues as well.
