OREANDA-NEWS. December 13, 2007. By the end of this year Ukraine's gas consumption will reach 68 billion cubic meters, while Kiev is ready to go on decreasing gas usage, acting Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Yuri Boylo said. He added that his institution conducted the program of energy saving aimed at decreasing of natural gas consumption by the country in a whole. "But we need additional money to speed up this process," he said. "We understand how much money we need," the minister underlined. He also noted that some technical measures are to be adopted, but it was "impossible to reduce gas usage sharply, just in one moment." According to Ukraine's Energy Charter, country's gas consumption should be down to 49.5 billion cubic meters by 2030.
