OREANDA-NEWS. On March 12. Ivars Godmanis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, is heading to Brussels to take part in the meeting of the European Council (March 13-14) where the heads of countries and governments of the European Union will discuss the Lisbon strategies, as well as issues regarding energy, climate, and financial market stability.

The Prime Minister will invite the heads of states and governments of the European Union to take part in the summit of the Prime Ministers of the countries of the Baltic Sea Region on June 3-4, in Riga. The Baltic Sea Region Business Forum will be held at the same time and welcomes the Prime Ministers and delegations of business representatives of the Baltic Sea Region.

Today, in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will open the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Latvia to the EU in Brussels. The high-ranking officials of the institutions of the European Union, foreign diplomats and experts are invited to take part in an official reception to be held in the Representation. The Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union is located in a new building in the centre of Brussels – a part of the city also known as “European quarter”, near the buildings of the Council of the European Union, the European Commission and the European Parliament. The new building of the Representation has large rooms for holding Latvian representation and art events.
