OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2008. Andrey Kazmin, General Director FSUE Russian Post and Valery Okulov, General Director OJSC Airflot Russian airlines signed Memorandum of Understanding.

The document stipulates for establishment of infrastructure to provide joint activities aiming to increase speed of postal items procession in airports, optimization of post volume transported by Airflot airplanes, its subsidiaries and partners of "SkyTeam" alliance. Russian Post as national postal operator and Airflot as Russian largest air carrier plan to coordinate the efforts to satisfy demands for post delivery by air, it especially concerns such districts as North, Siberia and Far East. The companies will develop air routes net and use airplanes.

The joint efforts will help to reach leading positions at urgent freight express market.

The Memorandum also stipulates for air tickets sale of Airflot and its partners in post offices based on agent agreement, development of both enterprises advertising in post offices net and Aiflot offices based on bilateral basis. It also provides opening post offices in terminals of international airport Sheremetyevo.

To perform the aims of Memorandum the parties set Steering Committee co-chaired by Andrey Manoilo, First Deputy Director General, FSUE Russian Post and Vladimir Antonov, First Deputy General Director, OJSC Airflot Russian airlines, also work groups within the framework of the Committee.

As noted Andrey Kazmin, Director General, FSUE Russian Post, cooperation development between Russian Post and Airflot will help to satisfy fully public and business demands in high-quality postal and transport-logistic services.

As to Valery Okulov, General Director OJSC Airflot Russian airlines, subscription of the document develops long-term traditions of cooperation between Russian national carrier and postal operator.
