OREANDA-NEWS. September 30, 2008. The 52nd General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) set off in Vienna today. The Russian delegation is led by Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko. He made a report during a plenary session today.

Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and Atomenergoprom OJSC are exhibiting their products and technologies in the framework of the conference.

The exposition presents Rosatom and Atomenergoprom, their projects and technologies as well as Russia-IAEA cooperation and the export capacities of Russia’s leading nuclear companies: Energoatom OJSC, TVEL OJSC, Atomredmetzoloto OJSC and Atomstroyexport CJSC.

Diagrams and bright pictures illustrate impressive figures: as much as 39bln RUR will be invested in the nuclear industry of Russia in 2007–2015.

Atomenergoprom annually produces almost 9% of total uranium in the world (ARMZ), offers 40% of total uranium enrichment services (Techsnabexport), manufactures 17% of nuclear fuel (TVEL) and builds 16% of nuclear power plant (Atomstroyexport).

The exposition also presents the international uranium enrichment center in Angarsk and the international project for innovative nuclear reactors and fuel cycles.

The exposition has been prepared by Atomexpo and is supposed to spread information about Russian nuclear technologies, projects and services.

The Russian delegates are planning to take part in the Sept 30-Oct 1 scientific forum. The objective of the forum is to encourage discussions about nuclear energy and the role of IAEA in meeting the energy needs of humankind.

The key topic of the conference is the role of IAEA in supporting infrastructure, capacities and resources, fostering technologies and innovations, ensuring sustainable development and global agreement on nuclear safety and nonproliferation, controlling nuclear disarmament.
