OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2009. The Government of Germany is ready to back economic and social reforms in Ukraine. The State Secretary of Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology Bernd Pfaffenbach announced to a media conference on the outcomes of the fourth sitting of Ukraine - Germany high-level group on economic cooperation.

“Federal Government of Germany has a strong will to support Ukraine on its economic and social way of the development, where it is on approaching the European Union”.

Bernd Pfaffenbach noted though the meeting took place in hard economic times, it is not a determinant factor for cooperation of the two states. He underlined the parties had elaborated a package of concrete measures in both multilateral and bilateral format. In particular, the State Secretary of Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology emphasized it is important to create favourable conditions for German investors in Ukraine.

In his turn, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria added the sides had agreed on cooperation in the issues of introduction of energy effective technologies, reforms of communal services and issues of building domain and agriculture etc.

“The Government of Ukraine views the very fact of cooperation with Germany as significant and, even more, as one of the key elements of Ukraine’s integration to the European Union,” Hryhoriy Nemyria stressed.

As reported earlier through April 27-28 Kyiv was the venue of the fourth sitting of Ukraine - Germany high-level group on economic cooperation. The Ukrainian part of the group was led by Vice Prime Minister for European and International Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria, while the German part – by State Secretary of Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology Bernd Pfaffenbach.

On the outcomes of the sitting Protocol on furthering bilateral Ukraine-Germany negotiations in cooperation to ensure economic development has been signed between the Ministry of Economics of Ukraine and Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology of the Federal Republic of Germany.
