OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2009. Fortune ranks UniCredit Group member of which is Ukrsotsbank in the third place, reported the press-centre of Ukrsotsbank.

The Global Fortune 2009 defines TOP-500 biggest Italian and world companies. According to the rating, Eni Company has confirmed its position as the top Italian company in Fortune’s 2009 ranking of the world’s 500 largest corporations, reiterating the oil sector’s predominance.

Meanwhile, Fiat bowed out of its third place ranking, losing it to UniCredit, which made its debut in the top three. The Generali Group maintained its number two ranking from last year. According to the rating, UniCredit Group also improved its Global 500 ranking, coming in 58th compared to 77th last year.

The other Italian bank to rank among the world’s largest companies was Intesa Sanpaolo: sixth in Italy and 137th worldwide (144th – last year).

On 23rd of January 2008, UniCredit Group finalized the acquisition of 94,2% total shareholders capital of Ukrsotsbank from the group of investors that were represented by international consulting company EastOne (shareholders’ saler) through Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG (BA-CA), which is responsible for commercial banking activity in CEE.
