OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 August 2009 was announced, that Belarus’ industrial output went down 3.9% on the year in January-July to 69.24 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), an official with the National Statistics Committee told.

Engineering and metalworking companies’ output decreased 26.7% on the year in the period to 13.738 trillion rubles. The output of fuel companies went up 13.1% on the year in January-July to 13.968 trillion rubles.

Chemical and petrochemical companies’ production increased 32.4% to 7.352 trillion rubles, and ferrous metallurgy companies’ output decreased 4.1% to 2.322 trillion rubles. Electrical power companies’ output decreased 12.2% on the year to 4.903 trillion rubles.

Construction materials companies’ output decreased 6.1% on the year to 2.843 trillion rubles, and woodworking and pulp-and-paper companies’ production amounted to 1.97 trillion rubles, down 24.4% on the year in January-July.

Belarus’ light industry output was down 11.6% to 2.286 trillion rubles, while food industry’s output went up 3.4% to 10.751 trillion rubles.

Return on sales amounted to 9.4% in January-June 2009, down from 19% in January-June 2008.

There were 432 loss-making manufacturers in the period, 20.7% of the total number, with net losses estimated at 622.394 billion rubles, up 5 times.

Net profit of Belarus’ industrial companies fell 61.2% on the year to 1.99 trillion rubles in effective prices in January-June 2009 with producer price index (PPI) rising 18.9% in the period.
