OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2009. The Kursk Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (the Kursk OFAS Russia) found that "Kurskoblnefteproduct" Ltd. breached Clause 1 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" in terms of fixing monopolistically high wholesale prices for oil products (motor petrol; grades АI-92 and АI-95) in 25th May 2009 - 28th July 2009, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Kursk OFAS Russia issued a determination to "Kurskoblnefteproduct" Ltd. to stop violating the antimonopoly legislation, by fixing the wholesale prices for motor fuel (grades АI-92 and АI-95) at the level, not exceeding the price level in the comparable goods markets on the date when the Commission of the Kursk OFAS Russia made the decision. The deadline for executing the determination - 1st October 2009.

Abusing dominant position is punishable by a "turnover fine" in the amount of 1-15% of the proceeds in the preceding year. In view of recidivist violations of the antimonopoly legislation by "Kurskoblnefteproduct" Ltd., this time the fine can be heavier than in the previous case (3 million Rubles).

"Kurskoblnefteproduct" Ltd. is the largest supplier in the market of motor fuel in the Kursk region. The company was repeatedly charged for violating the antimonopoly legislation.
