OREANDA-NEWS. September 25, 2009. Recently, Basic Element discovered that its email system had been hacked into by unauthorized individuals. As a result of the break-in a number of documents were stolen. These documents have since appeared on various websites worldwide.

On closer examination it is clear that the documents published are not what they claim to be - many have been significantly edited and amended, to include fictitious information and content. As far as Basic Element is concerned much of the material on these websites is not genuine, and does not represent the internal communications or views of Basic Element's employees.

Basic Element's Security Department is investigating the breach in tandem with Russia's law enforcement authorities. Basic Element is prepared to take legal action against the hacker.

Basic Element would ask the media NOT to reproduce the false material posted on these websites. Basic Element reserves the right to protect its reputation in a court of law.
