OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2009. Power Kazakhstan 2009, the 8th Kazakhstan International Power and Lighting Exhibition and Conference, and the Kazakhstan Forum of Power Engineers will take place on 3-5 November in Almaty.

Over the past 8 years, Power Kazakhstan has cemented its status as the largest and most important event for demonstrating achievements in the power industry, and become a traditional place for holding meetings and establishing contacts with industry figures and power engineers.

Since its inception, Power Kazakhstan has been officially supported by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC); the Mayor’s Office of Almaty; the Kazakhstan Electricity Association (KEA); the Kazakhstan Union of Engineering Companies; and the Kazakhstan Union of Power Engineers.

The exhibition will be held in Pavilion 9A of Atakent Exhibition Centre and present the latest achievements of the international modern electrical engineering industry: electrical equipment for various industries, advanced energy-saving technologies and materials, new generation power plants, and innovative projects and developments.

Power Kazakhstan 2009 will bring together more than 70 companies from India, Iran, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and South Korea. For the first time, China will present a national stand, which will include 13 companies.

The Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) and the Kazakhstan Electricity Association will present Kazakhstan’s power industry at the exhibition. This year, domestic companies make up 40% of all exhibitors. The exhibitors at power Kazakhstan 2009 include international and local energy companies; international manufacturers and suppliers of electrical equipment, technologies and services; businesses providing servicing at power plants; and engineering and consulting companies.

The organisers have conducted a large-scale campaign to attract visitors to the exhibition, and it is expected that the event will be attended by over 3000 specialists from Kazakhstan and its neighbouring countries.

An important business event will be the Kazakhstan Forum of Power Engineers, which will be held on 3 November in the Bakshasaray Reception Palace. The forum is held each year alongside the exhibition and brings together Kazakh and international experts to discuss current issues about the state of and prospects for the development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector.

This year, over 100 experts from India, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and other countries are expected to attend the conference. The delegates of the forum will include representatives of regional power grid and generation companies, power supply organisations, system operators, operators of centralised trading, major industry research and design institutes; power engineers from large industrial enterprises; and other industry experts from Kazakhstan and neighboring countries.

The main topic of the Kazakhstan Forum of Power Engineers will be the prospects of Kazakhstan’s energy sector - alternative energy sources, energy saving and energy efficiency. The key speakers at the forum will be Mr D. Turganov, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Mr K. Bozumbaev, President of KEGOC.

Presentations will also be made by representatives of the Agency for Regulation of Natural Monopolies; the Energy Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan; JSC KOREM; the National Academy of Engineering; Samruk-Energo; the Committee for State Control of Emergencies and Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Emergencies; Alatau Zharyk Kompaniyasy and other specialised organisations. The specially invited guest of the forum will be a representative of the Tajik national company Barki Tajik, who will present a paper in the first plenary session on regional cooperation.

Every year, the event attracts specialists from the power sector of Kazakhstan and its neighbouring countries, and receives widespread coverage in the press. The organisers expect that Power Kazakhstan 2009 will be an important industry event and have a positive impact on the further development of the power sector in Kazakhstan.

In his welcome letter to the exhibitors and visitors of Power Kazakhstan 2009, Mr. Mynbaev, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, says: “... the participation in the Power Kazakhstan project of a wide range of Kazakhstani and international power generation companies, international manufacturers and potential suppliers of electrical equipment, technologies and services, companies that provide maintenance at power stations, and engineering and consulting companies should promote the further development of Kazakhstan’s power equipment market - which aims to produce competitive products that meet international standards – the expansion of business partnerships, and the emergence of new, highly effective joint projects.”

The event is organised by the major Kazakhstani exhibition company Iteca and ITE Group Plc (UK).

In 2010, Iteca will hold Power & Lighting Astana 2010, the 1st Kazakhstan International Power & Lighting Exhibition, in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The exhibition will take place on 19-21 May in KORME Exhbition Centre.
