First, he has examined the site of the pig-breeding complex conducted by the AKC-Holding company from Moscow region. The company is the proprietor of such enterprises as Karelian Meat-Packing Plant and Korm, Inc. In Beryozovka there will be built a modern hi-tech complex for pig fattening able to hold 12 thousand heads a year. Even by Russian standards, it is a large megafarm. This is the first large project in pig-breeding in the Republic of Karelia. Every year there will be fattened more pigs than there are today in the republic at the farms of all categories. Recently in the neighbourhood of the building site there has opened a fish-processing complex of the trout-farmer Nikolay Fedorenko who has been working in the sphere of trout-breeding for twenty years at his farm in Tulguba. The person of unique diligence and purposefulness, in due time he has started his business from point zero, and by this year has achieved the result of 300 tons a year of commodity fish production. It occurred to him that it is necessary to process the trout he farms. He has applied to Onego bank for the credit and received it.

Now the new fish-processing complex is started up. It will process troutfrom the farm, and other sorts of fish - cod, haddock, halibut, sea perch, and herring. Nikolay Fedorenko intends to produce caviar without chemicals and preservatives, very natural and useful, by means of shock frezing technology.

Opening of the complex has fallen at the height of the financial and economic crisis, however, it does not frighten Nikolay Fedorenko.

– We must not argue about difficulties and the crises, but to define the goal and keep working… – he says.

Sergey Katanandov has congratulated the farmer on his great achievement.

– Life returns to Beryozovka, and it pleases me very much, – Head of the republic said. – This enterprise is very important for the settlement, for the region and for the republic as a whole. I would like to thank Nikolay Fedorenko for his courage and belief in his own resources. Trout-breeding in the republic is developing according to the program approved by the Government of Karelia. The branch was born and found its feet before our eyes. In just about twenty years trout-breeding became the leader of development and the trademark of Karelia that has no analogues in Russia. Today we are the main supplier of commodity trout in the Russian market. It is a great victory, and we are happy that people who have made it live and work in our republic! They are our neighbours, and Nikolay Fedorenko is one of them.

The settlement of Beryozovka will soon become the center of advanced agriculture in Karelia. Farmer Fedorenko will have over forty people employed at his new enterprise, and all soon in the settlement there will appear up to one hundred new workplaces with high salaries.
