OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2009. BDO Russia took part in the International Economic Forum MEF-2009 that was held in Murmansk (Russia), reported the press-centre of BDO Russia.

The Forum was aimed at establishing an effective dialogue concerning the questions of co-operation in the Arctic region. The representatives of the Russian government, Foreign Ministers of Sweden, Norway and Finland, as well as chief executives of the major Russian and international companies attended the event.

The participants discussed the development of the energy sector, fishing industry and natural management in the North of Russia. Special focus was on the development of the Shtokman gas condensate field as a significant project for the world economy and the role of the Murmansk Region as a starting point of the North-South transport transit corridor.

Marina Rapoport, Senior Partner and the Head of Tax and Legal Department of BDO, gave a report on Special economic zones and new approaches in investment activities and international co-operation. Marina Rapoport spoke on the global tendencies in public private partnership, successful use of PPP instruments and advantages of special economic zones in the regional development. Marina mentioned a range of problems and limitations on applied PPP mechanisms in Russia and suggested some effective ways of its implementation.
