OREANDA-NEWS. January 06, 2010. The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has reported that in November 2009 overall capital of domestic banks decreased for the third time in the history of country’s banking sector. At the ame tyime all cases of its decline in monthly basis were registered in 2009.

The CBA informs that as of 1st December 2009 local banks’ capital reached AZN 1.725 bn against AZN 1.7 bn by 1st November (the best indicator for entire history of domestic banking sector), AZN 1.49 bn by 1st January 2009 and AZN 1.4 million by 1st December 2008.

Simultaneously the decrease of overall capital level was also registered in March (from AZN 1.567 bn to AZN 1.557 bn) and in August 2009 (from AZN 1.686 bn to AZN 1.676 bn).

Nevertheless, by the reported date local commercial banks’ overall capital was estimated in USD 2.149 bn on exchange rate by 1st December 2009 (AZN 0.8025 to the US dollar). In December 2008 it decreased by 0.4%, and year-on-year grew by 21.15%.
