OREANDA-NEWS. February 17, 2010. ANRCETI suspended for two months license for rendering mobile communications services in GSM standard, issued to Eventis Mobile. ANRCETI has taken this decision on the basis of official application of Eventis Mobile.

This decision obliges the joint venture Eventis Mobile to take concrete measures to accelerate elimination of the drawbacks that led to the suspension of the license and notify the agency not later than 10 days prior to the expiration of this period. ANRCETI has obliged the company to do all its best to provide necessary assistance to the subscribers in their transition to other mobile communications providers.

Previously, the Agency has inspected the activities of Eventis Mobile for compliance with the license requirements and protection of the consumers’ rights. The last inspection, held in December 2009, found that the company has not fulfilled its obligations to ensure by late 2009 60% level of coverage of population and functioning of not less than 340 base stations. The company was warned and required to address relevant deficiencies as well as to submit the plan of specific measures.

The management of Eventis Mobile has not fulfilled ANRCETI requirements due to the lack of funding necessary to ensure quality of services and their continued provision. It stated that it is negotiating with national and international investors to attract additional investments for the continued operation of the company. Company Eventis Mobile has received a license for the provision of mobile services in GSM standard on December 26, 2006 and a year later, on December 21, 2007, it began the commercial provision of these services.

According to the statistical report submitted to ANRCETI by the company, on December 31, 2009, Eventis Mobile had more than 11,8 thousand subscribers, the volume of sales amounted to 7,5 million leis. Earlier it was reported that operator of mobile communications in GSM standard 900/180, Eventis Mobile, controlled by the Russian investment group Eventis Telecom Holdings, has bankrupted. As it was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, the bankruptcy of Eventis Mobile was the result of the poor management and lack of thorough market research.

According to Lazar, now all necessary procedures for the transition of clients of Eventis Mobile to other mobile phone companies are held. In early November 2009, goods worth more than 2 million leis due to the debts to 15 major lenders were confiscated from the company. In December 2006 Moldavian-Cyprus joint venture Eventis Mobile won the international competition for the third license to provide mobile services in GSM standard 900/1800 in Moldova. It has launched its network under the brand Eventis in late December 2007. The company paid for the license US8 million.

During the second stage of the tender the competitor of Eventis Mobile was Russian VimpelCom (Bee Line trade mark). Eventis Telecom Holdings investment group owns telecom assets in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It specializes in implementation of telecommunication projects in the emerging markets.
