OREANDA-NEWS. April 1, 2010. On 23 - 26 March 2010, a FAS Russia's delegation visited Vietnam Competition Administration Department to further develop bilateral cooperation on competition policy.

As part of the visit, on 24th March 2010 Stats-Secretary Andrey Tsarikovskiy, Deputy Head of FAS Russia, held several meetings with representatives of Vietnam, including Mr Le Danh Vinh, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, and Mr Bach Van Mung, General Director of Vietnam Competition Authority.

The meetings focused on possible areas of cooperation between Russian and Vietnam in the field of competition policy as well as the most pressing issues of improving competition policy of both countries. The Parties also exchanged experience of preventing abuse of market dominance, combating cartels and investigating antimonopoly violations.

Summing up the visit, the Parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Federal Antimonopoly Service (the Russian Federation) and the Competition Administration Department of the Republic of Vietnam, aimed at creating favourable conditions for developing bilateral cooperation in the field of competition.

"Cooperation between competition authorities of the two countries in investigation of specific cases of antimonopoly violations, which affect the interests of economic entities of the Parties, is one of the most pressing topics for discussion, therefore we discussed the prospects of joint investigations of such violations with representatives of Vietnamese antimonopoly authority", Andrey Tsarikovskiy.

According to a member of Russian delegation, Mrs. Lesya Davydova, the Head of the FAS Russia's Department of International Economic Cooperation: "It stands to mention success of our visit, which has brought bilateral cooperation between the antimonopoly authorities of Russia and Vietnam to a new level, and will allow to determine further areas of interaction under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by our competition authorities".
