OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2010. Belarus has received the fifth and final tranche of the loan extended by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the framework of the economic program for Belarus supported under a Stand-By Arrangement (SBA), the National Bank of Belarus said in a statement.

The fifth tranche amounted to about USD 670 million.

The Executive Board of the IMF late last week completed the fourth review of Belarus’ performance under an economic program supported under an SBA. The 15-month, SDR 1.62 billion (about USD 2.45 billion) SBA was approved on January 12, 2009 and on June 29, 2009 the size of financial package provided under the SBA was increased to an amount equivalent to SDR 2.27 billion (about USD 3.44 billion).

The completion of the fourth and final review enabled the immediate disbursement of SDR 437.9 million (about 662.9 million, according to the Fund), bringing total disbursements under the program so far to an amount equivalent to about SDR 2.27 billion (about USD 3.44 billion).

An IMF mission is expected to visit Belarus in May to draw the results of the program and address further cooperation prospects.
