OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2010. Belarusian companies’ foreign currency proceeds increased 4.1% on the year in January-February to USD 3.384 billion, an official with the National Bank of Belarus (NBB)’s information department told.

Of the total amount, commodity export proceeds increased 7.5% on the year in January-February to USD 2.746 billion, services export proceeds went down 8.7% to USD 608.809 million, proceeds from domestic trade for foreign exchange fell 9.3% to USD 25.749 million. Other proceeds increased 40.2% to USD 3.984 million.

The share of commodity export proceeds stood at 81.1% of the total foreign proceeds as of March 1, 2010, up 2.6 percentage points year-on-year, service export proceeds at 18%, down 2.5 percentage points.

Proceeds from domestic trade for foreign exchange increased accounted for 0.8%, down 0.1 of a percentage point. The share of other proceeds was unchanged, at 0.1%.

Corporate foreign currency proceeds from the CIS rose 36.5% on the year in January-February 2010 to USD 1.628 billion, including proceeds from Russia at USD 1.188 billion, up 15.4% on the year.

Belarus companies’ currency proceeds from non-CIS countries went down 14.7% on the year in the period to USD 1.756 billion.

In total currency proceeds, the share of the U.S. dollar increased 6.3 percentage points from March 1, 2009 to 39.2% as of March 1, 2010, the share of the Russian ruble increased 5.1 percentage points to 32.9%, the share of the euro went down 10.4 percentage points to 26.5%, the share of the Belarusian ruble was at 0.6%, down from 1.6%, and the share of other currencies rose to 0.9% from 0.8%.

In 2009, currency proceeds of Belarusian companies fell 31.4% to USD 25.911 billion.
