OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2010. The nuclear power submarine with production serial number 175 (project 675) will be disposed at plant Zveada till November, 2010. General Director of Zvezda Plant Andrey Rassomakhin told this information to journalists.

"In the near future, after the towing plan adjustment, we are planning to transport the disabled NPS to plant Zvezda; in August we are planning to put it on the plant building slip and form a three-section unit. The towing of the three-section unit to the bluff shelter in Razboynik bay will be performed by means of a special pontoon. The complete isolation of the disabled NPS is to be implemented before the end of this year „, he said. „In the beginning, we actually considered several options for the NPS disposal, including one of the docks of the 30th shipyard. But after the redistribution of our own dock facilities we rejected this option,“- General Director of plat Zvezda said.

As explained by Rassomakhin, the utilization procedure will be carried out in accordance with a traditional scheme, safe both for the company personnel involved in the operation and for the environment.

When answering the question about the safe NPS transportation, Rassomakhin said that in April during the transfer of the submarine to plant there was held a submarine radiation inspection which was implemented with the help of the Russian Federation Navy. In May and June, plant Zveada performed a set of measures in order to normalize the radiation environment in the submarine vessel; positive results were confirmed by the repeated investigation at the end of last month. "The disabled NPS is completely prepared for towing“, — said Rassomakhin.

Plant Zvezda is to perform the disposal of the disabled nuclear power submarine of project No. 675 under the state contract signed with Rosatom State Corporation in January, 2010.
