OREANDA-NEWS. August 13, 2010. In accordance with the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, grain growers in Dashoguz Velayat have started the winter crop sowing campaign. This decision was adopted at the recent working meting focused on the priorities of agriculture development during which the Turkmen leader blessed the beginning of this important agricultural campaign focusing on the need to take necessary measures to hold the sowing campaign in a proper and timely manner.

As in previous years, this year Dashoguz grain growers sow such wheat varieties as Juvan, Yoloten-1, Sahrai, Yubileynaya-100 and Batko adapted well to local climatic and soil conditions.

Agricultural machines and equipment were prepared for the agricultural campaign. Over 650 John Deere, Case and Belarus-12.21 tillage tractors, over 380 seeding machines, 120 MTZ-82.1 tractors and about 2,000 MTZ-80X tractors are engaged in this year’s sowing campaign.

The seminar with the participation of specialists of velayat, town and etrap khyakimliks, the subdivisions of the Turkmengallaonumleri Association, the Turkmenobahyzmat Association, the Turkmenstandartlary State Service, agricultural workers, the heads of the farmers associations, agronomists, machine-operators and grain growers was held in Turkmenistan farmers association in Ruhubelent Etrap on occasion of the beginning of the sowing campaign.

Those speaking during the meeting expressed gratitude to the President for his unceasing concern and support for rural workers and noted that the goal-oriented measures taken by the Government to develop the agro-industry sector played a critical role in fostering Turkmenistan’s social and economic progress. The meeting participants shared experiences in using effective methods of irrigation and seed treatment and applying agents to protect plants against pests, weed and diseases focusing on the readiness of lands, machines and equipment for the agricultural campaign. According to good traditions, the elders blessed the start of sowing campaign.

An exposition of agricultural machines, mineral fertilizers and agricultural products was arranged in the framework of the seminar. Local folk and dance groups and singers performed a concert for the meting participants.
