OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2010. VOLIA, Ukraine’s leading national telecommunications provider, has announced that Mr. Mark Burden has joined the company’s top management team as Chief Financial Officer (СFО).

In this position, Mr. Burden will be in charge of the company’s financial strategy.

"This is a unique opportunity for me to apply my experience and background in telecommunications and finance to further enhance the financial management at Volia. The company is currently in an interesting phase of its development, and this is a very exciting and critical time from the viewpoint of financial discipline and investment planning," said Mr. Burden.

"Mark will have a very important job to do, and that will be to prioritize investments and the return on them. This is of paramount importance now that the scale of the company’s objectives has increased and all of them are urgent and top priority. Some of them, however, are critical and need to be addressed right now, while others will produce the desired effect only in the long-term perspective and require more thorough preparation. I am confident that Mark, with his unique expertise and experience with some of the largest companies in Europe and in Ukraine, especially in telecommunications and financial analysis, will bring additional value to our management team and further improve the company’s management efficiency. At the same time I would like to thank Kent Holding, who previously held position of CFO, for his great contribution. Mr. Holding has decided to return to Poland. Mark Burden joins VOLIA from MTS Ukraine where he has served as CFO and deputy President since 2002. During his tenure, Mark built up the finance organization and helped guide MTS strategy and development. Prior to Mark’s tenure at MTS Ukraine, he held various executive roles in Utel in Ukraine and GTS and Golden Telecom in Russia. Earlier in his career, he also advised the Ministry of Communications on regulatory issues, including tariffs and restructuring. Mark is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
