OREANDA-NEWS. March 2, 2011. A workshop on “Design of semiconductor components and electronic based miniaturised systems: European and Russian R&D cooperation” will be held in Ulyanovsk, Russia, 19-20 May 2011.

Semiconductor Design is one of the key ICT areas defined in the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union. The workshop is being held under the FP7 project "Stimulating Semiconductor Design Cooperation between Europe and Russia" (SEMIDEC, http://www.semidec-ru.eu ).

Representatives of both parties will share experiences, present and discuss recent scientific and technological achievements, and identify areas of common interest and potential R&D collaboration during the workshop to be hosted at Ulyanovsk State Technical University (http://www.ulstu.ru/main/view/article/9681 ). The participants are expected to establish partnerships to prepare joint project proposals for FP7 on the subject.

Workshop participants will have an opportunity to meet with European and Russian leading players within their field; to get insight into the latest technological developments in semiconductor components and electronic based miniaturised systems; and to receive free advice on technical and administrative matters pertaining to the 7th Framework Programme, and on preparing joint project proposals. In addition, leading EU and Russian consultants will provide training on how to participate in FP7.

Of special interest are topics pertaining to the industrial sectors designated as high priority for EU-Russia collaboration, such as IC design, microelectronics, semiconductor physics and nanotechnology, and telecommunications.

The workshop targets an audience of project managers, researchers and designers from leading European and Russian companies, multinational corporations, academia, research institutes and laboratories specializing in the areas that are at the core of the SEMIDEC project.

More information and the registration form are provided as an attachment. Participants should register before 31 March 2011.
