OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2011. As part of their visit to Russia, Didier Marouani and electronic music band Space are to give exclusive concerts at the House of Cosmonauts, Star City, and at the State Kremlin Palace

Space and Didier Marouani have put together a new program especially for Russian audiences that celebrates the first manned spaceflight and includes the band’s dazzling laser light show. The State Kremlin Palace concert on April 13 will see Russian acts join the French star on stage to perform space-themed hits, as well as a new song, “Hurrah, Gagarin!”, specially penned for the anniversary. Astronauts from different countries will also be taking part in the concert.

Founded in 1977, Space remains one of the world’s top electronic music bands, with a strong international following, playing to packed audiences whenever they make a rare concert appearance. The group’s work is inseparably connected with outer space. Their 1987 album Space Opera was dispatched to the Mir space station, making it the first disc to be sent into the cosmos. Selections from the musicians’ latest album, From Earth to Mars, will be played at the Kremlin show.

Space’s concert performance on April 13 is not the first time that Uniastrum has teamed up with the legendary French band, whose 2006 anniversary tour it sponsored. The Bank has, since its inception, made it a matter of policy to lend its support to social and cultural projects. In the course of its 17-year history, Uniastrum has sponsored concerts by international starts such as Cher, Luciano Pavarotti, Charles Aznavour, and many others.

“As a member of the International Association of Space Activities Participants (IASP), Uniastrum is committed to its working relationship with aerospace sector enterprises,” says Bank President Gagik Zakaryan. “We are delighted that in this anniversary year for Russia’s space industry marking 50 years since the first manned spaceflight, Muscovites, including aerospace personnel, will have the chance to enjoy a concert given by the world’s most famous space music band.”
