OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2011. From 8 July till 2 October this year, a collection brought by world famous fashion historian Alexandre Vassiliev from Paris will be exhibited in Riga Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. The exhibition is named “From mini to maxi. The fashion of 1960s” and is already a third dress exhibition presented by Alexandre Vassiliev in Riga with support of ABLV Bank.

This collection focuses on the fashion of 1960s and includes haute couture dresses by legendary fashion houses Chanel, Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Nina Ricci, Jean Lanvin, Pierre Cardin, Andre Courreges, Guy Laroche, Oleg Cassini, Irene Galitzine. The collection also includes dresses by other, less famous, fashion houses of that period – Anne Sorrente, Valentina, Mansfield, Lord Tailor, J. Bernardon – and also works by unknown fashion designers.

Pierre Balmain, Balenciaga, Christian Dior models are excellently cut and sewed. Classic Chanel models remain in fashion – dresses and skirts with a simple cut, and jackets with metal chain in the hem. This is proven by Chanel-style suits by Ein Fink Modell, Wurmser, which are also included in the collection.

The Alexandre Vassiliev’s collection is kept in Paris and was exhibited in many countries – France, Great Britain, Russia, Belgium, Turkey, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Chile, and others – with great success. In Latvia, a part of this large collection was presented in 2009 at “Victorian Fashion” exhibition in the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, which was very popular among visitors. Continuing cooperation with Alexandre Vassiliev, another exhibition – “Art Deco: the fashion style of interwar period” – was held in 2010, attracting record high number of visitors – 25 123.

In partnership with Alexandre Vassiliev, this spring ABLV Bank started issuing exclusive credit cards Vassiliev Style. Holders of these cards are provided not just standard credit card functionality, but also free travel insurance and excellent concierge service. Moreover, once a quarter they will receive "Vassiliev Style" magazine, containing special advice by Alexander Vassiliev on fashion issues and visiting some of the world fashion centres.
