OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2011. Dec 12 is the date chosen to improve safety consciousness of Huangshan Mountain's staff and advocate civilized behaviors from the tourists. On the designated "Safe-tourism Day", Huangshan Mountain management committee organized a series of activities, such as ropeway emergency rescue drills and emergency-rescue equipment displays.

The date was chosen because of the tragedy happened last year. On Dec 12, 2010, 18 college students got lost in Huangshan Mountain and more than 230 local policemen tried their best to find them. A police officer by the name of Zhang Ninghai unfortunately lost his life while searching for the students.

The Huangshan Mountain management committee continues to strengthen tourism security infrastructure construction and to promote the tourism emergency rescue work. In 2011, three rescue teams were set up.

"There are several security systems in Huangshan Mountain, including a 110, 119 and 120 emergency dialing system for public security, a disaster warning and detection system, and an emergency rescue system," says Cheng Guanghua, director of the political department of Huangshan Mountain management committee.

Four hundred Red-cross first-aid workers are trained to be responders to any emergency conditions. All the emergency measures initiated help improve the safety of Huangshan Mountain.
