OREANDA-NEWS. January 10, 2012. Ingosstrakh Insurance Company and the Pskov Museum have entered into a contract on provision of property insurance services to Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of Mirozhsky Monastery, and Ingosstrakh Insurance Company has provided an insurance coverage to unique Christ Pantocrator icon of the 14th century in Spaso-Eleazarovsky monastery.

The insurance scheme provides protection against damage or destruction risks as a result of unforeseen and sudden impact of fire, lightning stroke, blast of gas, acts of God, damage by water, explosion, burglary and robbery, malicious acts of third parties, terrorist attack, fall of piloted aircrafts or their pieces, accidents with ground vehicles, broken glass.

Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of Mirozhsky Monastery has a unique collection of fresco painting; it has Russia's unique frescos of the pre-Mongolian period of the cathedral of the 12th century. Christ Pantocrator icon from the middle of the 14th century that is kept in Spaso-Eleazarovsky monastery is among ancient icon paintings. Wonder-working icon had been kept in the Pskov Museum for a long time and has been transferred to the church lately. An anti-vandal glass is made for the unique icon, alarm system is installed, and a webcam is connected, using which 24-hour online broadcasting is conducted.

It will be recalled that in April 2011 due to a spring flood Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral of Mirozhsky Monastery was waterlogged, and frescos were threatened with destruction. Now the unique cultural artifacts are covered by insurance of Ingosstrakh Insurance Company, and in case of frescos or cathedral damage, their restoration will be paid by the insurer.
