OREANDA-NEWS.  February 16, 2012. Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc.(FFNA), a leader in innovative technology and front-end solutions, today announced the award of its bi-annual scholarship at the Champlain Valley Technical Education Center (CV-TEC). The Fujitsu Frontech Scholarship has been awarded to current student William (Bill) Hickey. Mr. Hickey distinguished himself as the most deserving recipient with clear financial need, as well as academic achievements and strong focus on the community and family.

The Fujitsu Frontech Scholarship was founded in August of 2011, with the support of the Champlain Valley Technical Education Center (CV-TEC). As a bi-annual scholarship, each recipient receives USD 5,000 in tuition assistance at CV-TEC. As the premier provider of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Literacy Education in the region, CV-TEC acts as the administrator of the scholarship.

“We are very pleased to announce the first scholarship award to Mr. Hickey,” said Yoshi Masuda, President of Fujitsu Frontech North America. “He demonstrated the qualities and focus we felt best embodied the spirit of the award. With the award of the scholarship, we are proud to support Mr. Hickey and his objective of furthering his education and training. By extension, we are proud to support CV-TEC and all of its students.”

CV-TEC offers a diversity of program and focus areas, including Architecture & Construction, Audio, Video Technology and Communications, Business, Health Science, Hospitality, Information Technology, Manufacturing and many more. In 2009, CV-TEC initiated an FAA-approved, Part 147 Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Aviation Technology Program, which is the central program of the PAI. CV-TEC operates the PAI at the former CommutAir facility in Plattsburgh.

“CV-TEC is excited to be part of awarding Mr. Hickey the inaugural Fujitsu Frontech Scholarship. We received approximately one dozen scholarship applications, all of them presenting merit and excellence, making the decision for the award a very tough one.” said Mr. James McCartney III, principal of the CV-TEC satellite campus that houses the institute and other CV-TEC programs. “However, we were unanimous in selecting Bill Hickey for the 2012 scholarship, given full perspective of his status, objectives and values.”
