OREANDA-NEWS. March 14, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power company, has been associated with various community programmes in Haldia. Since its inception, the Haldia power plant has undertaken numerous initiatives to promote safety at its workplace as well as around its area of operation, covering community and society at large.

In continuation with this commitment towards safety, the Haldia power plant celebrated a week-long programme on the eve of the 41st National Safety Day, from March 4-10, 2012. Many events were organised to spread awareness on safety among its workforce and people at large.

A safety awareness programme was organised for school students of St Xavier’s School, Haldia, with special focus on road and home safety. Around 60 students participated in the session which mainly comprised a sensitisation session on basic road and home safety measures, followed by a spot quiz to test the effectiveness of the session.

The objective of this initiative was to sensitise as many students as possible about various safety-related issues and protect valuable human life from any unwanted mishap.

Speaking at this event, Vijayant Ranjan, station head, Haldia power plant, said, “We are happy to educate the students on road and home safety in Haldia and strongly believe that this initiative will play a vital role in aiding young minds to take necessary precautions in safety and for advocating the same in society also. It will also help students to develop their leadership qualities by sensitising their peers and family.
