OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2012. The team of the Irkutskaya HPP ranked second in the elimination round of the National Competition for Operating Personnel of HPPs (Eastern Region).

On June 21, ten teams from Siberia and the Far East participating in the elimination round in the Eastern Region completed all stages of the competition.

In the morning, four teams participated in the remaining scheduled stages, and in the afternoon all ten teams demonstrated their fire extinguishing skills at Stage 5.

Stage 5, the maximum score for which was 400 points, was crucial for many participants and gave the opportunity to take part in the final competition if successfully completed.

According to the results of Stage 5, the team of the Irkutskaya HPP (a branch of JSC  Irkutskenergo) was the best. It completed four sections of the “fire relay race” in 2 minutes and 8 seconds.

The team of the Bureyskaya HPP (a branch of JSC  RusHydro) completed the stage in 2 minutes and 10 seconds; it was the second best team. The team of the Zeyskaya HPP (a branch of JSC  RusHydro) also became one of the three leaders, with the result of 2 minutes and 12 seconds.

The team of the P. S. Neporozhny Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP (a branch of JSC  RusHydro) won the first prize of the regional stage (2447 points); operating personnel of Irkutskaya HPP (the branch of JSC  Irkutskenergo) with the result of 2348 points won the second prize. The third prize was given to the team of the Novosibirskaya HPP (a branch of JSC  RusHydro) whose result was 2287 points.

The jury of the regional professional competition for hydropower workers comprised the executives of JSC  RusHydro, EMERCOM of Russia, specialists of the First Aid School, as well as honored workers of the dispatching and control system of the UES of Russia and chief engineers of the power plants where the elimination rounds are held.

The teams that won the first three prizes will participate in the final of the Fifth National Competition for Operating Personnel of HPPs to be held at the Irkutskaya HPP in September, 2012. There they will meet the winners of elimination rounds of the Southern and Central Regions.

Reference: the National professional competition for hydropower workers has been held since 2005 in order to assess and improve the skills of the operating personnel of HPPs, as well as to share the best practices in energy equipment operation and ensure safe operation of HPPs.

The capabilities of computer simulators, automated knowledge testing systems and operator training systems are shown during the competition. Besides, up-to-date technical means for training, automated testing and personnel training are introduced.
