OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2012. Specialists of Academician M.F. Reshetnev Information Satellite Systems have carried out an experimental communication session between the Mission control center in Indonesia and ISS-Reshetnev’s Information computation center to control and command the TELKOM-3 spacecraft.

ISS-Reshetnev-built TELKOM-3 is now being readied for launch at the Baikonur cosmodrome. At the same time the company experts have carried out satellite’s pre-launch control tests. All procedures were conducted on a mathematical model of TELKOM-3, which represents a dynamic software simulator installed in the Indonesian mission control center.

During the communication session the company’s team received telemetry data, conducted satellite command and control operations as well as checked performance of the following subsystems: electrical, thermal, attitude and orbit control.

The test which was conducted on the TELKOM-3’s mathematical model, confirmed reliability of communication links between ISS-Reshetnev’s Information computation center and the Mission control center in Indonesia, as well as software’ s compliance with the contract’s specifications. The results obtained in the communication session verified that the Russian and Indonesian companies are ready for controlling TELKOM-3 in orbit.
