OREANDA-NEWS. In February, the construction workers of Holding TITAN-2 finished concreting ORC of the first power unit, from a mark of +19.75 to +23.75. Completion of this phase was one of the milestones of the month, which opens the scope of work for the installation of dry reactor shielding equipment.

These works will be performed by the specialists of section No. 1 of OJSC MSU-90. Dry shielding is part of equipment installed in the reactor vault, and is one of the most important security features of a NPP. It shields the reactor core and is designed to reduce radiation and heat impact on the concrete vault.

Other works in the reactor hall of power unit 1, also planned for February, are:

o installation of water-tight lining of reactor containment from mark +22.00 up to mark +34.20;

o concreting of the inner shell to mark +19.50;

o concreting of the slab to mark +8.00;

o reinforcement of reactor vault to mark +11.27.

Active work continues also at the reactor hall of power unit 2. The following have already been completed:

o lining of inner containment from mark -1.25 to mark +9.40;

o concreting of the outer containment from mark -1.25 to mark +2.50;

o concreting of the reactor vault up to mark -1.25;

o installation of internal building structures, to reach mark -1.25.
